Abandoned ‘Ugly’ Dog Survives Near Fatal Disease And Finds A Happy Home

A dog had a rough start in life – abandoned, sick and starving – but amazingly he survived. Murray the Weimaraner was found as a puppy with his three siblings on Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico. The name ‘Dead Dog Beach’ is attributed to this spot because it is a well known dumping spot for stray animals.

Just after they were rescued by the Sato Project, Murray and his siblings showed signs of distemper, a virus that is fatal to most dogs as it affects their respiratory and nervous symptoms. Murray was due to be euthanized, but the vet changed their mind when they saw Murray wagging his tail and did what they could to save him.

Due to the virus, Murray now has no teeth, causing his tongue to flop out of his mouth. But he survived the nearly-always fatal disease! He also has bone deformations that makes him look a little different from other dogs.

But this didn’t stop him from being adopted by Mackenzie Gallant and her family.

Now Murray is a happy, healthy dog who loves everyone and everything! He also helps raise awareness of dog
