Thoughtful Teacher Writes On School Desks To Inspire Her Students

Almost everyone has heard of students giving apples to their teachers and placing the fruit on a teacher’s desk. But one teacher in New Jersey’s Woodbury School System turned the tables and instead did something special for each of her students.

Chandni Langford is a fifth-grade teacher who decided to surprise her students with an inspirational message just before they had to sit down and write the school’s annual standardized exams. The high-pressure tests for the kids are known as PARCC.

“To motivate her 5th grade students, Mrs. Langford at Evergreen Avenue prepared inspirational, growth-mindset messages for every one of her students,” explained Woodbury City Public Schools on Facebook.

“Each personalized note was written in dry erase marker on students’ desks so they could be cleaned up prior to starting PARRC.”

She also placed two donut holes on top of yellow paper with the message “Donut stress. Take your time and do your best”

Exams are always a stressful time for students, so to be greeted with inspirational messages and a treat must have helped a lot!

After the school system’s official Facebook page posted pictures, they quickly went viral. Obviously, Mrs. Langford’s personal touch is appreciated by more than just the students and parents.
