Soldier’s Kind Deed For Two Hungry Boys Wins Him Praise

Jason Gibson was visiting Taco Bell when he noticed two kids come into the restaurant and try to sell homemade desserts for money. Also in the restaurant was LTC Robert Risdon, who gestured for the boys to come over and talk to him. “I overheard a soldier ask the kids if they were hungry and told them to follow him to the counter, he would buy them dinner,” wrote Jason.

Jason was so impressed by the ranger’s actions that he videotaped it and shared it on Facebook, writing “I had to video it and share. Our troops are always taking care of us. Thank u LTC Robert Risdon.” That’s not all. Jason said he heard the youngest boy say “I want to be just like you when I grow up” and the boy saluted him.

Since the video was posted, LTC Risdon has received praise from all over the country for his kind deed.

It turns out the boys, ages 9 and 13, were selling the baked goods for their local church. It was getting late and the boys were cold and wet and hadn’t eaten any dinner, so appreciated Risdon’s offer.

For Risdon’s part, he says it was a no brainer and was happy to help out two great kids. “I’m kinda embarrassed and humbled by the praise and don’t need it,” Risdon told The Huffington Post. “I am a believer that we live in the best country in the world with the best people and that acts of kindness happen every day.”
