Social Worker Adopts “Bad Kid” After Trying For 10 Years To Find Him A Home

For 10 years, Connie tried to help a young boy named Taylor get adopted. And for 10 years, she watched him get disappointed as the families who adopted him would return him shortly after, telling her he had “anger issues”.

For Connie, Taylor’s situation weighed heavily on her heart. “Every child is adoptable,” Connie said. “There’s a family for every child.” But no one seemed to want to spend the time necessary to help Taylor.

Neglected by his drug-addicted biological parents, Taylor and his two younger sisters entered the foster system in 2003. The three were adopted together but they didn’t keep Taylor.

Taylor was so angry because deep down he felt unlovable. “I was just so mad because I thought that they weren’t going to keep me,” Taylor said. “I was just trying to test them.”

After growing so upset at Taylor’s situation that she physically had an ache in her chest, Connie realized she could no longer be Taylor’s social worker. Instead, she knew she had to be his mom.

Taylor and Connie’s story reminds me a bit of Doug Wilson and another “unadoptable” boy he met who ends up calling him “Officer Dad”.
