Singing Transporter At Hospital Makes Patients Feel Better

For three decades, Lindon Beckford has transported patients at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He tries to make their brief time together memorable by singing to them as he chauffeurs them to and from operation rooms and testing procedures. It’s his small way of helping them feel better and make their trip easier. “It makes me healthy again,” one patient tells him with a smile on her face.

Lindon converses with them and tries to think of what song he can sing to help relieve their pain. It’s a thoughtfulness that many of the patients appreciate.

Lindon’s approach is a wonderful reminder that it doesn’t matter what job you have, you can always help others if you put your mind to it.

Share Lindon’s kindness with your family and friends!
