Simon And Garfunkel Reunite To Perform ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’

Simon and Garfunkel’s long musical career has produced many landmark albums and songs that have left their mark on the world. One of their biggest hits, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, was the feature song on the selfsame named album that was released in the early 1970s.

Many Americans were in turmoil over the the Vietnam War and the threat of nuclear weapons cast a dark shadow over the country. Simon and Garfunkel’s song captured the sentiment of the time, and resonated with listeners with its hopeful message. The album ended up winning 13 Grammy Awards.

Flash-forward to 2009 and Simon and Garfunkel reunited on stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City to perform the song at the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert. This performance is one of the last times they sang the song together.
