Dog Keeps Little Boy With Autism From Running Into Street

Service dogs are increasingly being recognized for their importance in helping families and children with autism. Take the dog in this video! While the family is playing outside of their home, Aragorn the Briard is working and keeping an eye on the little boy with autism. As soon as it looks like the boy is running towards the street, the Briard takes action to protect him!

Ry-Con Autism Service Dogs trained Aragorn and says that the dog is “performing a command we call ‘curbing’ where our dogs put their body in front of the child and the danger. We never leave the child unsupervised but this can add seconds to a parents ability to intervene.”

Briards are an ancient breed of large herding dog, so they have a natural instinct to look after their flock…or in this case, this little boy.
