When shoppers arrived at a Toys R Us in New Jersey on Black Friday they were in for a big surprise. ‘Secret Santa’ had paid the store a visit and paid for all the toys that they had put aside to buy. It seems a mysterious man known as Charlie K. paid off more than $10,000 worth of customers’ layaway purchases!
Customers at the Cherry Hill store were stunned. “They come over and tell me someone actually paid the layaway,” Jessica Key said. “[It’s] definitely an early Christmas and I want to say thank you to the gentleman that came in and donated. It’s like the best feeling, thank you.”
KYW News caught up with Charlie K. and asked him why he did it. His answer was simple. “Just you trying to bring some happiness to people. That’s really it. Help bring back to the community that brought so much happiness to me and my family.”
He also gave another $2,000 to Toys For Tots by having everyone inside the store pick out three toys for him to donate! What a generous gift for the people in his community!
