Man Sees So Many Unemployed Veterans That He Decides To Create A Company To Help Them

Mark Doyle was a banker by trade when he was deployed to Afghanistan as a forensic accountant for the Army. While overseas, he observed the commitment that the men and women serving their country made every day. But he had a hard time reconciling the realities of their life when they returned home. He saw unbelievably high unemployment among veterans and escalating suicide rates.

Mark realized he personally had to do something to help the situation. His solution? In 2012, he established a t-shirt company called Rags of Honor, and hired 4 homeless veterans. The T-shirt company has since hired 22 homeless veterans, who are no longer homeless as result of their employment.

For Doyle, the company’s success is driven in large part by the strength and dedication the veterans bring to the job. Their efforts continue to inspire him. “My mission is to be the largest employer of homeless veterans in the country,” says Mark.”You want to show you love them? Give them a job.”

What Mark Doyle has done reminds me a lot of entrepreneur Veronika Scott, who helps employ the homeless through her jacket company.
