When the Varchetti family ordered a pepperoni pizza from Hungry Howie’s for dinner they weren’t expecting an impromptu piano recital, but that’s exactly what they got.
When the delivery guy, 18-year-old Bryce Dudal, looked inside their foyer and noticed a piano. Julie Varchetti, who wasn’t home that night explains what happened next: “Hubby ordered Hungry Howie’s tonight for the kiddos and the delivery guy noticed our piano. He kindly asked if he could play for a sec and this is the treat they got! Figures I wasn’t home.”
Bryce sat down on the piano bench and began to play the third movement of Beethoven’s “Moonlight” sonata, stunning the family. Julie later said that her youngest son even stopped playing his favorite video game to listen to Bryce play.
Fortunately for everyone, Julie later posted a video of Bryce’s spontaneous performance.
After he stopped playing Bryce told the family he was self taught from a young age before getting lessons. Bryrce told the Washington Post that playing the piano has always been a passion of his.
“[Learning to play the piano] was a long process. You have to sit there and think and try to put it on the piano, piece by piece. I couldn’t read music back then. I would sit there and listen for hours and hours and try to figure it out… A lot of people sit down at the piano and play something slow and beautiful. But when I play for someone, I like to go all out.”
