When A Boy Tries To Sell Teddy Bear For Food, Police Officer Goes Beyond The Call Of Duty To Help

When Officer Steven Dunham responded to a call about a little boy outside of a CVS drug store in Ohio, what he learned broke his heart and prompted him to act. It turns out the little boy was trying to sell his teddy bear for food.

The 7-year-old told Officer Dunham of the Franklin Police Department that he was trying to sell his stuffed animal to get something to eat as he hadn’t eaten in several days. “It broke my heart,” Officer Dunham told WLWT News.

Dunham took the boy to Subway to get something to eat and then back to the police department where they ate dinner together. As they sat they said a little prayer together.

The officers ended up treating the boy as they would one of their own kids. Upon visiting the boy’s home, the police learned that he and his four brothers lived in absolute squalor and investigators have since charged the parents with child endangerment.

Police Chief Whitman told the news station, “Hopefully, these officers’ actions change these kids’ lives and maybe change the lives of the parents to become better parents.”

The children are now staying with family members and their parents have been prohibited from talking to them.

I’m so glad Officer Dunham was there to help the boy. Share if you agree!
