I’m still stunned at what I saw after watching this video! Firefighters in east China’s Zhejiang Province were called to an apartment building after residents said they heard a baby’s cries coming from a toilet. The dramatic footage in the video below shows rescue workers removing part of a sewage pipe in order to free a newborn baby trapped inside!
Miraculously, the baby – who became known as Baby 59 – survived and suffered only a few scratches. Authorities initially believed the baby had been purposefully dumped by his parents, but it emerged that the baby was flushed down the toilet by accident.
It turns out that the woman who raised the alarm was, in fact, his mother. The unmarried 22-year-old had hidden her pregnancy from her family after the father refused to stand by her and she could not afford an abortion.
Not realizing she was going into she went to use the shared bathroom and gave birth. But the newborn slipped into the squat toilet by accident before she could grab hold of him. Once the investigation was concluded the mother was not charged and the little boy was released from the hospital into the care of his mother and a man claiming to be his father.
It’s a truly horrible mistake but thanks to the quick actions of the firefighters and medics the baby is alive!
