Parents Finds Touching Message On The Back Of Their Late Daughter’s Mirror

Athena Orchard was only 12 when she was diagnosed with bone cancer. Tragically, nothing could be done to treat it and she passed away on May 28, 2014 in her father’s arms at the age of 13. Athena left behind her parents, Dean and Caroline and six sisters and three brothers.

During her illness, Athena took to secretly writing messages to her family on the back of her mirror.  Dean and Caroline only discovered the writing on the mirror after she died.

While going through the painful process cleaning out her room, they found the 3000-word inscription on the back of it.

On it, she had shared her thoughts on love and happiness and her words struck her family in the heart, while also giving them comfort.

Passages included:

“Happiness depends upon ourselves. Maybe it’s not about the happy ending, maybe it’s about the story. The purpose of life is a life of purpose.”

“Every day is special, so make the most of it, you could get a life ending illness tomorrow so make the most of every day.”

“Love is not about how much you say I love you – it’s about how much you can prove it’s true.”

“Love is like the wind, you can feel it but you can’t see it.”

The last words written were, “There’s no need to cry because I know you’ll be by my side.”

Caroline says the mirror makes them feel like they still have got a part of her with them. It’s a memento they are sure to cherish for as long as they live!
