Boy Who Cannot Afford Books Begs Mail Carrier For Junk Mail To Read And Gets Amazing Response

When mail carrier Ron Lynch approached the home of Matthew Flores he noticed that the boy was reading flyer ads. He was surprised when the boy asked him if he had extra junk mail that he could read.

Thinking this was an odd request, Lynch asked him why and Matthew’s response broke his heart and motivated him to post a request to his friends on Facebook.

He wrote:

“Facebook friends…This is Matthew Flores. Today while delivering mail to his apartment complex, I saw him reading ads, and then he asked me if I had any extra mail he could read. He told me his wish is to have books to read. I told him the library had many, but he said they don’t have a car, and couldn’t afford the bus. So…let’s get this 12 year old some books! Let’s help him. I was given many books as a child, and it’s time to help someone else.”

He asked if they could help him get some books for the 12-year-old. It was just a few days after that books began arriving from all over the country and as far away as the U.K., Australia and India!

Matthew was stunned by all the deliveries. He and his sister stood next to a bookcase overflowing with books! He said he can’t wait to read every last one and share them with his friends.

Meanwhile, Lynch was equally stunned by everyone’s generosity.  Lynch wrote:

“Friends… I’m stunned and humbled by what happened. I deserve little credit. It’s all of you who cared enough to do something about it that are the true heroes of this story.”

“Matthew is thrilled and we’re all overwhelmed,” he added. “Bless you all, and thank you all so much!”
