It was the worst feeling in the world. John Lundquist had been out on a camping trip with his dog, Lindsey, when she got startled by a storm and ran away. He spent days searching for her in the woods of Boundary Waters in Minnesota, but he couldn’t find her.
Forced to return home after he ran out of food and had to get back to his two young daughters, he continued to search for her by posting online. Over the week, his post was noticed and shared thousands of times.
Finally, someone said they had saved her after she had swum to an island. However, soon after she was rescued, she escaped the home. A few days later someone else spotted her. This time she was seen being chased by the wolf! John thought for sure that Lindsey was gone. But that wasn’t the end of Lindsey’s story!
A local rescue group, Retrievers, didn’t give up hope and left out food and a trap…and wouldn’t you know it, they trapped Lindsey!
Having had to survive alone for a month, Lindsey had lost a lot of weight and caught Lyme disease (for which is now being treated). Everyone marvels at how the city dog survived as long as she did, but thanks to the kindness of strangers and her dad’s refusal to give up on her, she’s safe back at home.
