Dog Curls Herself Up In A Corner And Stares At A Blank Wall After Being Dumped At Shelter

Tammy Graves was on a mission to a North Carolina shelter to save three Labrador Retrievers, when she walked past a kennel and stopped in her tracks. Huddled in the concrete room was a terrified dog huddled in the corner, staring at the wall.

Tammy, who is the founder of Haley Graves Foundation, was moved to take a photo of the frightened dog and shared it online. The dog, now named June Cash, was frozen in fear and laying in a puddle of her own urine. She was afraid to move and afraid to make eye contact, “thinking just maybe she can fade away into this wall” wrote Tammy.

“This is the reality of irresponsible pet ownership and the shelter system,” Tammy wrote when she first saw June. “This is not a shelter issue, this is not a rescue issue. This is irresponsible pet ownership. Own it people!!”

But June would not have to endure her ordeal for much longer. Tammy pulled June from the shelter after her mandatory hold was up and immediately brought her to the vets, who determined June had likely abused as she is terrified of loud noises and will not eat unless no one is looking. She is also very sick with heartworm.

June Cash is now in foster care and will not be up for adoption until she’s had a chance to recover and be evaluated behaviorally. Tammy notes that everything is new to June Cash so they are moving slow with her. They can tell she has never been to a vet, and probably never had toys and treats. She shares on The Haley Graves Foundation website, “As you can see she is very spoiled there (as she deserves to be). She loves her new bed, her toys and treats!”

Thankfully, June Cash is in safe hands, with people who know how to take care of her.
