Late night funnyman Jimmy Kimmel shares his thoughts on the Minnesota dentist who illegally killed Cecil the lion, who was a local favorite in Zimbabwe.
He had a hard time not getting emotional when recounting the lion’s tragic murder. He pretty much sums up what many of us are thinking about the lion’s death at the hands of a Walter Palmer, a trophy hunter. “Why are you shooting a lion in the first place? I’m honestly curious to know why a human being would feel compelled to do this — how is that fun? Is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you have to kill things?”
Kimmel gets choked up while he appeals to the audience to help support the researchers at Wildlife Conservation Research Unit at Oxford University, who are tracking lions at the park and put the GPS collar on Cecil. They later found the lion’s body, which lead authorities to those responsible for the crime.
Everyone is upset and heartbroken at Cecil’s senseless killing and the loss of his pride.
