Inspiring 9-Year-Old Girl Helps Homeless By Building Them Shelters And Growing Them Food

It all started a few years ago when Hailey Fort was just five and she saw a homeless man on the street. She wanted to buy him a sandwich and then thought she could feed many more homeless people if she grew the food herself, so she started a garden. And from there, she came up with the idea to build shelters.

“It just doesn’t seem right that there are homeless people,” Hailey said. “I think everyone should have a place to live.”

In the video below, Hailey is building one of her mobile sleeping shelters for her friend Edward, who is currently homeless. The shelter is complete with windows and insulation!

“If she had her way we’d have mobile sleeping shelters taking up our front lawn,” said Hailey’s mother, Miranda.

And remember that garden? Hailey expects to harvest more than 200 pounds of food to help feed the homeless this year!

The budding philanthropist also provides health and hygiene supplies to the homeless.

Hailey’s efforts are not going unnoticed and she has raised $30,000 thanks to people who have donated after learning about her enterprising ways and generous heart!
