When Valia Orfanidou first saw Tool, the dog was tied to a tree up a mountain in the dead of winter. The hunting dog had been abandoned by his owner and left to starve to death after he developed a limp, and was considered of no use. Valia freed Tool and brought the frail, confused dog back to her car where he would begin his journey to a new life.
Miraculously, Tool was in relatively good health. But she was startled to discover the dog was microchipped. Valia learned that Tool had been bought as a puppy and given to another hunter only to be cruelly discarded. But as they say, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
After a few months with Ilioupolis Animal Welfare Union, Tool was adopted by a woman name Lone, who travelled from Germany to get him. It was love at first sight. And after seeing how close Tool was to his kennel companion, Cosette, Lone knew she couldn’t leave her behind and adopted her too! Watching Tool at his new home is extremely gratifying to Valia, who has stayed in touch with Lone and loves how the two dogs have become “amazing, loving companions”.
