How To Make Caramel In A Can

Caramel sauce is a great treat for the holidays and this recipe is not only super simple to make, it will save you money.

Also called dulce de leche in some countries, this is a very simple method on how to make a lovely and gooey caramel that is fantastic as a sauce or topping. Whether you use it on apples, ice cream, cake, popcorn or in your coffee, the sauce is always delicious.

Todd’s Kitchen demonstrates how to make it. All you need are some cans of sweetened condensed milk, any brand will do. Put the cans into a pot of boiling water, making sure the water covers the can. Let is simmer for 3 hours.

It’s very important to check that the water covers the tins the entire time cooking, as the cans could possibly explode.

Once done cooking, let the cans cool for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Once the cans have cooled long enough, crack them open and enjoy!
