A dog named Che is being hailed as a hero after alerting neighbors of a fire and protecting his owner from harm. The dog began barking at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct 30, 2016 in a two-storey red brick rowhouse in Port Richmond, Philadelphia.
Che does not usually bark, so his continua barking caught the attention of neighbors who investigated and noticed a blaze in the rowhouse. Firefighters arrived and found Che lying on top of his owner. The dog and his human were both unconscious because of the smoke, but both were luckily revived with oxygen.
Che is now being temporarily cared for by one of the woman’s friends and hopefully will be reunited with his human soon!
