How To Keep Pesky Flies Away From Your BBQ

Barbecues in the summer are always a lot of fun. But one thing that can make them annoying are the flies. No matter what, the dirty insects seem to smell out food and show up to hover around the grill and land on your food. Ewww.

You could buy an expensive fly zapper or enlist the kids to swat at them with a fly swatter, but you could also try this household trick that many claim keeps the flies away.

Here’s what you will need: plastic sandwich bags, lime juice, some shiny pennies (or other shiny coins or aluminum foil), salt, 2-3 paper clips.

Add 2 1/2 cups of water to a bowl and mix in lime juice and 2 teaspoons of salt. Then add the mix to the sandwich bag. Add a few pennies (or pieces of aluminum foil, if you don’t have coins). Seal up the bag.

Then attach two or three paper clips and use string to hang it up near your grill.

It seems like a strange thing to do, but many people swear by the trick. If it really does keep the flies at bay, it’s worth a shot.
