Firefighters Resuscitate Guinea Pig Rescued From House Fire

Rodney the guinea pig has a group of firefighters to thank for saving his life after a fire broke out in his family’s Florida home. Polk County Fire Rescue was responding to a house fire that had started in the kitchen when firefighter John Williams rescued Rodney from the smoke-filled home.

Little Rodney was suffering from smoke inhalation, so firefighters set to work to help him. Without an oxygen mask to fit him, they thought on their feet and adapted one that they had for babies, in order to give the tiny animal the life-saving air he needed!

Afterwards, the guinea pig’s mom, Kristi Waller, thanked the firefighters for their actions. She commented on Facebook, “I want to, personally, thank you for saving my Rodney (the guinea pig) and what you could of my house. You were all such gentleman! Understanding that this is your job, and you see such things on a regular basis, you were all so sensitive to my family’s situation, and offered to help in any way possible. Thank you all! You should be proud of what you do, and I will forever be thankful to you in my thoughts and prayers!”
