Donkey Leads Escaped Herd Of Goats And Sheep On Adventure Through Neighborhood

Officers responded to an incident they will never forget, calling it “one for the books.” A lone donkey was found leading a herd of goats and sheep through residential streets of West Covina, California, after escaping from a property in a neighboring city.

“When a police officer reaches the end of his/her career, most of them will say ‘I’ve seen it all,'” the West Covina Police Department wrote on Facebook. “Well, let’s add one more rare call for service to that list.”

They received a call around midnight about a herd of animals wandering the streets and arrived to find “several sheep and goats being led by a donkey walking along the residential streets”.

“The group of animals at first failed to comply with officers as they evaded capture. With the assistance of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the animals were safely corralled,” the police wrote.

“It was discovered that the animals had found freedom through an unsecured gate from a residence located in the City of Valinda,” they explained. “The owner was contacted and he responded to assist in herding the animals back to his residence. None of the animals were injured.”

With the animals all safely returned home, the West Covina Police declared, “This incident is one for the books.”
