Poor Shadow arrived at Vet Ranch heart worm positive and very thin, but what really stood out was the huge tumor growing on his front leg. Animal Control received a call about the dog, who had been running around the neighborhood for years with his owners doing nothing about it.
Dr. Kerri with Vet Ranch took Shadow in and after examining his leg, she realized removing the tumor was going to be much more of a challenge. The tumor’s skin was splitting and it was attached to his leg by multiple “stalks” – meaning it was invasive in his muscle tissue around his entire leg.

The poor fellow had been through so much. He also had heartworm on top of everything else.
She was concerned about the cancer having metastasized and him losing his leg. But Dr. Kerri manages to remove the 12 pound tumor in surgery – an incredible, terrible weight for Shadow to have been carrying around on his leg.
When Dr. Kerri got back the test results post-surgery, she got the best news ever. The tissue invading his leg was benign!

On top of that, Shadow is now off the streets and in a loving home!
