Cow’s Epic Escape On Way To Slaughterhouse Goes Viral, Earns Her Pardon

A cow set to be slaughtered launched a “great escape” that reads like something out of an action movie.

The cow refused to get into a truck destined for the slaughterhouse and instead smashed through a metal fence, broke the arm of a man trying to catch her and then swam to safety on an island in the middle of a lake, where she has refused to let anyone near her for several weeks.

The story of the cow’s heroic bid for survival was first published on the Polish news channel, Wiadomosci, which reported that the cow’s owner, Mr. Lukasz had attempted to get the cow back to his farm in south Poland, but the cow had other plans.

The cow not only broke the arm of a worker, but when she swam out to one of the islands in the middle of Lake Nysa, the farmer said he saw her dive underwater to escape detection.

After a week of trying and failing to get the cow back, Mr Lukasz gave up. But he made sure she had enough food to stay alive on the island.

Firefighters were called to help and used a boat to get to the island but the cow swam away to another island. Running out of options, the farmer considered shooting the cow.

However, the cow’s story spread on social media, with many pleading for the cow to be pardoned from her fate.

Politician and former singer, Pawel Kukiz, posted of his desire to help the cow. “I’m not a vegetarian, but fortitude and the will of this cow’s fight for life [is not to be ignored], he wrote on Facebook. “Therefore, I decided to do everything to first [help] the cow to be delivered to a safe place and secondly, in reward for her attitude, give her a guarantee of retirement and a natural death.”

Kukiz said he called the sister of the cow farmer and offered to pay for the cow and for her to be safely tranquilized and transported back to her home provided that she is kept alive until he can find the cow a permanent home.
