Simon Cowell is known more for his acerbic critiques than for showing his emotions when watching contestants on X Factor. But when listening to 21-year-old car mechanic Josh Daniel, Cowell was uncharacteristically at a loss for words. In fact, the young man’s performance brought tears to his eyes.
Josh sings Labrinth’s “Jealous” and said he reinterprets the lyrics differently from most. He dedicates the song to his best friend, who passed away two years ago.
“The lyrics kind of say I’m jealous that you’re happy without me,” Daniel explained. “And I kind of see it in the sense that I’m jealous that he’s now happy in heaven, that he’s moved on to a better place and that I can’t still be with him.”
