Caring Deputies Mix Baby Formula By Flashlight For Baby After Pulling Over Drunk Dad

Deputies Roger Garcia and Sam Rodriquez with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department in New Mexico recently pulled over a drunk driver and found him driving with his three kids in the car. The children are ages 5, 2 and 2 months old.

The deputies were upset to see the 2-month-old was not buckled into her car seat and were further upset when they learned the kids could not remember the last time they had eaten.

As soon as other officers arrived to help, they delegated responsibilities to care for the children. While some went to get food at McDonald’s, officers Garcia and Rodriquez tended to feeding the baby.

They used a flashlight by the roadside to mix the baby formula using a cold water bottle and then tried warming up the water using the squad car’s heater.

Deputy Rodriquez bottle fed the baby boy on the side of the road and changed his dirty diapers.

Although Rodriquez isn’t a dad yet, he said he’s had practice being an uncle babysitting. He also told KOAT reporters that as soon as his wife saw a photo of him holding the baby she told him it was time for them to start a family!

The cops went out of their way to make sure the children felt secure despite their strong feelings about the father in the situation. They were truly professional and demonstrated compassion in action!

Thank you, officers! Share this story with your friends if you believe these deputies deserve praise too!
