There Wasn’t A Dry Eye In The House When Bindi Irwin Danced One Last Time In Honor Of Her Father

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when everyone watched Bindi Irwin and her dance partner Derek Hough perform a freestyle dance in the finale of “Dancing with the Stars”. Their powerful routine was set to “Footprints in the Sand,” by pop singer Leona Lewis and fit their dance perfectly.

The footprints projected onto the sand at the end of their dance were meant to represent Bindi’s father, Steve Irwin. At the end of the dance, an emotional Bindi broke down when an image of her late father was projected on screen. She leaned in and gave Derek a hug. The two have become friends during the competition, something Bindi says she is grateful for throughout the emotional journey she’s had on the show.

The simplicity and beauty of the piece had everyone saying she deserved to win the mirror ball…and she did.
