Nervous 13-Year-Old Opera Singer’s Inspiring ‘America’s Got Talent’ Audition Earns Her The Golden Buzzer

Before 13-year-old Laura Bretan walked onto the “America’s Got Talent” stage, she said she was extremely nervous about performing in front of Simon Cowell and the other judges. She was super excited, but also didn’t want to make a mistake. That’s what makes what happened next so special.

From the moment Laura begins singing the opera classic, “Nessun Dorma”, you can hear the judges and audience visibly gasping. The judges are incredulous that such an incredible voice is coming from someone so young.

“That didn’t just happen. I have never heard anything like that in all the years I’ve been doing these shows,” judge Simon Cowell said afterwards. “Seriously. It was unbelievable. And what made it even better is the fact that you are such a sweet person – so humble, not even aware of how amazing you are. Thank you so much for coming on this show. That was really, really, really special. Amazing.”

After the other judges had gushed about Laura’s amazing performance, it was judge Mel B’s turn. “I think this show is going to completely change your life,” the judge and former Spice Girl singer said. “And, I’m going to change your life, right now.” With that she pushes the Golden Buzzer so that Laura goes directly through to the live competition. It’s a wonderfully emotional moment for a young girl, who obviously has great talent.
